Stumble Upon Goodness:Soul Train

I know this is not your typical "Stumble Upon Goodness", segment but we definitely want to give credit where credit is due. We just did the "Classic Party" and it was a blast, everyone was dancing and we even started a Soul Train Dance line which was a lot of fun. So we definitely need to pay homage to the show that inspired us, the popular old school show Soul Train. Before there was BET, MTV or music television in general, there was Soul Train. They showcased all the greats like the Jackson 5, James Brown, Elton John, Kurtis Blow, Stevie Wonder, and Al Green, just to name a few. But the Soul Train Dance line was definitely the highlight of the show, this is where all the best dancers got down and showed the rest of the world how to get dance. The show definitely changed pop culture forever, and to this day you may go to a party anywhere in the world, and when you see everyone dancing in a line, and rocking it out, you know where that came from. So we say thanks Soul Train

Way Back Play Back: The Warriors

This week we want to give you a hip hop cult classic. Many hip hop artists have used lines from or made references to this movie "The Warriors". The story is about a gang from Coney Island Brooklyn who have been setup and are trying to find there way back home from the Bronx, battling against all these gangs on their way back to Coney Island. This is super dope movie. For those who have seen this before and for those who haven't watch and enjoy.

Music For Your EarHoles

Most of the time on our Music For Your Earholes segment we feature a Dj from anywhere in the world. Well this week I would like to share something a little different. Recently I came across a really cool website that plays artists that you choose and their songs and also artists that are similar. Now I'm sure a lot of you all are familiar with pandora.com which basically does the same thing, but Last.fm gives you a whole break down on the artist. They give you bio info, videos, event info, track listings, and even billboard stats. I definitely recommend this site if you are looking for good music of your liking to groove to. So with that said I wanted to start off with a link to the Godfather of Soul and popular music pioneer James Brown. I hope you all enjoy and have fun at home or wherever you're at, dancing and grooving!

WTF? Sammy Sosa

I saw this article posted earlier this week and I couldn't believe it, Sammy Sosa bleached his skin! What in the hell, that is so sad. Its so sad that the embedded feelings of racism are so deep in some people of color that they feel that their natural appearance is not beautiful nor acceptable so they take extreme measures to look more European. Sammy Sosa's people say that the reason for his skin's appearance is because he  just underwent a skin renewal treatment. I've never seen a skin renewal that made your face pale and changed your eyes to green too. Sammy is trippin for real. I had know idea he felt that way about himself, it wasn't like anyone was hating on him for being black and of African decent. Wow Sammy, wow!

Freaks of the Industry

So I got a chance to go to the King Me Model Search/ Q from 112 party last week, it was pretty crazy, but a lot of fun like always. The crowd was crunk and super packed. The ladies came out in droves and at their finest to participate in  the model search contest. I don't know what it is about a beauty contest that brings the "best" out of people but the ladies were trying to win this one! Also Q from 112 came down and got on the mic and sung a few songs and got everyone moving. It was a pretty hot night.

Way Back Play Back:"Hip Hop and Hot Wings"

So the other day I was in the garage looking for something and came across a project I did in college with a whole bunch of pictures on it from back in the day at the Peanut for Hip Hop & Hot Wings. So I decided to make a brief slide show reminiscing over the Peanut, for three years it ran strong, that was the only place I wanted to be on a Sunday night. I'm sure for a lot of you out there, it was the same. So here's to you all, who got to live and be apart of such an amazing event, which spawned so many other great things. Cheers to all the creators of Hip Hop & Hot Wings.

You know honestly I could do Supras each time we do our Shoe Porn segment they are just that dope to me. I try hard to find variety and post up other hot shoe brands that I've found, but Supras are always fresh. This time my eye has been on these Supra Skytop Black and Gold Distressed models. These joints just pop, all you have to do its just stand in them and stunt. Right now you can cop a pair at Karmaloop.com for $99 which is great considering they are usually around $140.

Way Back Play Back: "Hip Hop Beyond Entertainment"

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration. A push to make you feel like you a going in the right direction. The other day I was talking to a friend of mine who is an aspiring rapper, and he was telling me how he was feeling down and he just wanted to make his dreams finally come true. I know just like everyone else about feeling down and thinking that your goals and dreams will never be realized. But one thing I have learned though are a few rules of thumb: to act as if, self actualize, think positively, and hard work will help you get closer to your goal.
I wanted to share a video of KRS-ONE talking to a class at Temple University about the history of Hip Hop. In this video he doesn't just talk about Hip Hop, but he talks more about self actualizing, finding out who you are and following that. He talks about those who are "free" and "freed" , those who feel as if they had something external it would make all the difference, when in actuality it should be internal. He uses the examples to show how Hip Hop started from people who had nothing and made it into a multi-billion dollar industry. Now if thats not inspiration I don't know what is. This video is for everyone who has their up and downs and doubts and needs a little push every now and then. Hopefully you can take something from this, I know I did.

Funny Ass Shit: More Spills and Thrills

We are continuing again this week with more spills and thrills, because seeing someone trip and fall has to be the of the most classic and basic forms of comedy. No matter how many times you see it, it never gets old, a great fall is always hilarious, as long as the person is ok of course. But seeing celebrity rappers fall off stage has to be one of the funniest things ever and so I share a few clips with you all.
